When excessive moisture goes unchecked, it can cause significant damage, allow mold growth and even weaken structural material. Moisture can be absorbed by many different materials which can provide perfect fertile ground for mold to flourish or even pests to nest in. The most typical place for mold to grow and go unnoticed is in the basement of a building. Water usually runs to the lowest available ground, which means basements are the ultimate destination for water to pool, especially after a major flooding event. So, you’re probably wondering how we check for moisture without ripping everything out? Luckily for you and your structure, we have three different moisture meters.

The first is a pin-type meter. This type uses the principle of electrical resistance to measure the moisture content in materials by measuring the conductivity between the two pins.

The second type is a pin-less meter. This is a non-destructive measurement of moisture in wood and other substrates, such as concrete. These meters are commonly used to determine moisture content on a relative scale of 0-100% in concrete subfloors and flooring prior to laying a wood floor or other decorative flooring surface. These types are also commonly used for identifying moisture buildup behind bathroom/shower tiles, under vinyl flooring and other finished surfaces.

The all in one meter offers the option to measure moisture content in substrates using both pin/pin less methods. Because of this, one meter may be able to identify problem areas & then also e used to pin point the exact location where moisture damage or build-up is occurring.
